The Tools page

In Tools you see what Athena can do on this server: web, files and commands, Library, memory, mail, calendar, Craft apps, MCP servers. Each group can be turned off for you.

The web

Athena searches the internet (with the server's search engine), reads pages and can navigate sites: open, click, fill in. Submitting a form always asks for confirmation.

For facts to verify (people, places, definitions, procedures, laws, scientific and technical content, quotes) she first searches Athena Search, Athena's search engine: a private beta, still being tested and refined. It gives passages to quote, with dates; for today's news, prices and opening hours Athena searches the internet. The two searches complement each other.

The Craft apps

With the Craft suite installed on the server, Athena creates and edits Word documents, PDFs, spreadsheets, presentations and more, in the working folder. Changes are undone with Undo under the answer.

Files and commands

Whoever has the console permission (granted by the administrator) can let Athena read, write and search files in the working folder and run commands. Athena follows the project rules (AGENTS.md, CLAUDE.md) and can use skills.

When she creates a file you need (a 3D model, a PDF, an image, an archive) she hands it over in the chat: under the answer the file card appears, with Download and, when possible, Open in the canvas. You can also ask for it («send me the file»). In shared chats everyone sees the card; whoever has the shared folder can download it.

MCP servers and other AIs

  • The administrator adds MCP servers in Settings → Tools; Athena uses them like the apps.
  • Other AIs: Athena can consult Claude Code or Codex in read-only mode, with your subscription (/consult).
  • Images with Codex: ask «make me an image of…» and Athena has Codex generate it with your subscription (it asks first). The image is saved in immagini/ in the working folder, opens in the canvas and downloads from the card. To change it, ask for the edit: Athena hands the previous image back to Codex. Simple touch-ups (light, colours, crop) it does with the Craft apps. It needs an administrator with the working folder and Codex set up in Other AIs.
  • Images with OpenAI: with your API key (Settings → Connectors → OpenAI) Athena generates images even without Codex. Usually in a batch: it costs half and the image arrives in the chat within 24 hours, with a notification. Now costs double and must be allowed in the connector. The administrator can let other users generate with their key, which they don't see, with a monthly image limit. If you have both Codex and OpenAI, Athena uses Codex; OpenAI if you ask. In Lore it generates without asking.
  • Video: ask «make a video of…» and Athena's engine generates a clip of a few seconds with sound, from a description or starting from an image in the chat («animate it»). The job is queued and the clip arrives in the chat after a couple of minutes (about 100 seconds for 4 seconds of video), with a notification; you watch and download it from the chat, on the phone too. The size is not fixed: by default it is 16:9 horizontal (1024×576); there are also vertical 9:16 (576×1024, for people, portraits and phones), square (768×768), 4:3 (1024×768) and 3:4 (768×1024), HD 720p (1280×720, or 720×1280 vertical) and Full HD 1080p (1920×1080, or 1080×1920), and any even size up to 1920 per side («make it 960×540»). Athena picks the format from the request. The bigger it is, the slower and the fewer seconds fit in memory: for 4 seconds, 720p takes about two and a half minutes and Full HD 5-6 minutes. Full HD works only when the chat model is Qwen: with DeepSeek Athena suggests 720p. A Full HD video uses the chat's memory while the chat rests: Athena's first answer can take up to a minute, and the video pauses for a moment if you write to her («waiting for Athena to finish answering»). The job's row shows how far it has got. One video at a time: the others wait in the queue. If a clip is too long for the engine's memory, Athena tells you how many seconds fit. In Manual mode she asks first. Videos are made with LTX 2.5 by Lightricks, under the LTX-2 Community License: it is free within its use restrictions, and anyone with annual revenue of at least 10 million dollars needs a commercial license.
